I borrowed $15,000 from Forward Financing during a difficult period for my small business. At the time, I understood that there was no prepayment penalty, which led me to believe I could save money by paying the balance off early if my business improved. After making 12 payments of approximately $405 each, I decided to explore an early payoff option. To my surprise, I was informed that my payoff amount was still around $17,000. When I added everything together, I learned that the total contractual repayment amount was approximately $22,000 on a $15,000 advance. While I take responsibility for signing the agreement, I feel the true cost of the financing was not clearly explained in a way that I fully understood. The phrase "no prepayment penalty" gave me the impression that paying early would result in meaningful savings, but that has not been my experience. As a small business owner, I understand that alternative financing is expensive and that companies need to make a profit. However, I believe borrowers should have a very clear understanding of the total repayment obligation and how payoff amounts are calculated before signing. I am sharing my experience so other business owners can carefully review all terms and fully understand the total amount they will be required to repay. I would also welcome the opportunity for Forward Financing to review my account and discuss a fair resolution.
