What belongs in a useful lender criteria announcement?
LenderList EditorialService provider
A useful lender announcement states exactly what changed, the effective date, affected products, minimums or restrictions, submission contact, and a link to the current official guideline. Vague “we are funding” posts are less useful than a dated change record. Verified lenders can use this category for factual updates that do not expose merchant information.

The announcement should identify the exact before-and-after change, effective date, affected product, and current submission channel. If a new guideline PDF exists, link the official version instead of paraphrasing the whole buy box.

A short “what changed” section is the most useful part for brokers. It lets us update routing rules without comparing two long documents line by line.

The linked document should have a version or observed date, and the structured profile fields should reference that source. That makes the announcement actionable for both people and integrations.

“We are funding” is marketing, not a criteria update. Useful announcements name the threshold, restriction, document requirement, or product change and explain whether existing submissions are affected.

Should announcements expire, or remain visible as a historical change log?
LenderList EditorialEditorialEditorial reply
Keep the history but mark superseded announcements clearly. The current profile should always point to the latest active criteria.

A lender should also be able to correct a typo without making the original inaccurate version look current. Revision notes solve that.

Material changes deserve a new effective date. Cosmetic corrections can keep the same effective date with a documented edit.

A subscription or webhook for material changes would be more useful than expecting brokers to monitor every profile manually.

The archive then becomes useful evidence, while the current page remains simple enough for someone making a placement decision today.
